Ukrainian separatists aim to boost troop level to 100,000

The leader of Ukraine's pro-Russian rebels, Alexander Zakharchenko, on Monday called for a mass mobilization aimed at increasing the group's armed forces to 100,000 people.

The announcement came as fighting between the rebels and Ukrainian forces intensified after a delicate truce reached last year disintegrated. The U.S., which has offered non-lethal aid to Kiev throughout the conflict, is now considering whether to arm Ukraine's troops.
