Jon Stewart gleefully games out a war between Florida and Texas

If Texas and Florida go to war....

Jon Stewart is not impressed with the GOP-led 114th Congress. No surprise there. But on Wednesday night's Daily Show, he did try to appreciate Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's promise to allow more amendments to legislation — before solemnly reiterating his conviction that McConnell is, in fact, a turtle.

It's all good, classic Daily Show fare. Then Stewart turned from the "passive-aggressive" Senate to the "open, unadulterated aggression" of the House, and that's where the fun began. In particular, he focused on a fight between Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) and Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas). Hastings dogs on Texas, Burges demands an apology, and it's an amazing sight to see. But Stewart used the tiff to game out a war between Texas and Florida. It involves the usual suspects — Alligators, oil spills, Chuck Norris — and Stewart's enthusiasm is infectious. His conclusion? Mean. Watch. —Peter Weber
