A judge in Venezuela has been arrested and will face charges related to favoritism after he issued a sentence to a drug kingpin that prosecutors say let him off easy.
Ali Fabricio Paredes was arrested less than 24 hours after he sentenced Walid Makled to 14 years in prison, The Associated Press reports. Before Makled was extradited to Venezuela, he was arrested in Colombia, and Venezuela and the United States both wanted to try him. Prosecutors say they will appeal his sentence.
