Apple is finally set to roll out racially diverse emoji

If an emoji is worth a thousand words, then you're about to dramatically expand your vocabulary. Thanks to Apple, a whole new buffet of emoji options will soon hit iPhone keyboards, TechCrunch reports. The new offerings will finally embrace the diversity that is the world: The company is adding six more skin tones, dozens more country flags, and a variety of happy family options. Beloved emoji like hair flick girl and prayer hands will finally come in a shade to match your texting fingers.
This plan to diversify Apple's emoji has been in the works since March of last year, when MTV Act brought the lack of racial diversity to Apple’s attention, and Apple promised to work with Unicode Consortium to update standards for emoji.
The new emoji are currently being tested in beta versions of iOS 8.3 and OS X 10.10.3. While there’s no official release date yet, there are rumors that a beta program will be available to the public next month.
