New York restaurant serving Notorious B.I.G.-inspired meal on the 18th anniversary of his death
It's been 18 years since the Notorious B.I.G. was gunned down, and two New York chefs are marking the occasion by serving a special six-course dinner inspired by some of the rapper's favorite meals.
All'onda’s Chris Jaeckle and Talde's Dale Talde worked together on the menu, taking into consideration some of Biggie's lyrics, the New York Post reports. The first course, "spiced tomato soup," comes from the line "V8 juice drinkin', Slimfast blendin'," and "cracked pepper jerk crab and lobster toast" takes its cue from "country house, tennis courts, and horseback ridin', decidin': cracked crab or lobster?" A lyric from one of his most famous songs, "Hypnotize," inspired the third course of "butter poached escargot" ("escargot, my car go 160 swiftly, wreck it buy a new one, your crew run run your crew run run").
The rapper's Jamaican roots and love for spicy patties are behind the fourth course of "curried oxtail patties, pickled scotch bonnet, and ginger relish," and finally, his appreciation of Junior's cheesecake, which he used to enjoy with a Coke, inspired the "G.O.A.T. milk cheesecake, strawberry jam, cola caramel." The dinner will set guests back $85, and will only be available at All'onda in New York City's Union Square from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. March 9, the Post says.
