India's health ministry announced Monday that the country's death toll from swine flu has reached 1,370, with 55 fatalities since the last report.
ANI News reports that 25,000 people in India have been infected with the H1N1 virus, which causes swine flu. Officials believe the rise in cases is due to high humidity levels, which would allow the virus to live for longer periods of time.
NDTV reports that the highest concentration of deaths is in Gujarat, where 5,521 people have been infected with the virus, and 322 have died. Meanwhile, the state of Rajasthan has also seen 321 deaths and 5,949 people infected.
