Dr. Nancy Snyderman is leaving NBC News

Dr. Nancy Snyderman, who made headlines last year when she did not observe quarantine rules after covering the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, is stepping down as chief medical editor for NBC News.

In a statement, Snyderman said she plans to return to academic medicine, and has accepted a job at an unnamed major U.S. medical school. Snyderman also said she came to the decision partly because of the fallout that was caused by the quarantine controversy, The Associated Press reports.
