Boston really doesn't want to host the Olympics anymore

Bostonians no longer see the Olympics as a golden opportunity for the city.
The committee behind Boston's Olympic bid, Boston 2024, told The Boston Globe over the weekend that it will only continue to push for the games "if we have a majority with us." And on Monday, the group took out full-page ads in that paper and in the Boston Herald reaffirming it would only submit a final bid if, among other things, a majority of residents want the Olympics to be held in Massachusetts.
The remarks came days after a WBUR poll found support plummeting for Boston's bid. Only 36 percent of metro area residents said they supported the campaign, down from 51 percent in January.
