In an interview with NPR released Tuesday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) argued that his history of immigration reform is stronger than Hillary Clinton's.

"Well, I don't know about others, but I've done more immigration than Hillary Clinton ever did," Rubio told NPR News. "I mean, I helped pass an immigration bill in a Senate dominated by Democrats. And that's more than she's ever done. She's given speeches on it, but she's never done anything on it. So I have a record of trying to do something on it."

Rubio's proposed immigration reform would involve asking immigrants who arrive in the U.S. illegally to "come forward, undergo a background check, pay a fine, start paying taxes" and eventually receive work visas, Politico reports.

The statement comes after Rubio emphasized the need for immigration reform in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Monday. During the NPR interview, Rubio also said that he would reverse a nuclear deal with Iran, even if America's European allies object.
