Ten days after two convicted murderers escaped from a New York prison, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) ordered the state's inspector general to conduct a probe into the incident. State officials will work with an outside expert in corrections to evaluate the conditions that led to the escape, ABC News reports. They will also recommend reforms to implement.

The probe announcement comes a day after Cuomo acknowledged inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat could be near the Clinton Correctional Facility or "in Mexico by now," after escaping earlier this month with the help of prison employee Joyce Mitchell, who admitted to aiding the prisoners by smuggling contraband.
