One of the most acclaimed fantasy novels of the 21st century is heading to the small screen. American Gods — the sweeping Neil Gaiman novel that offers a trip through an America populated by mythological deities both old and new — has been ordered to series by Starz, with Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller and Kings creator Michael Green serving as co-showrunners.

"I am thrilled, ‎scared, delighted, nervous and a ball of glorious anticipation," said Gaiman in a statement. "The team that is going to bring the world of American Gods to the screen has been assembled like the master criminals in a caper movie: I'm relieved and confident that my baby is in good hands."
