Watch a Cubs fan nonchalantly catch a fly ball while feeding his infant son
Because who cares about child safety when there's a baseball involved, a Cubs fan caught a foul ball while giving his infant son a bottle during Tuesday night's game against the Dodgers.
Keith Hartley was feeding 7-month-old Isaac when Jason Hammel hit a pop fly. "I'm just trying to protect him first," Hartley told The Chicago Tribune. "We have the seating configuration so my two friends were closer to the ball if a sharp foul ball came. We'd all kind of stand up and make a wall. This one was a little easier. Just kind of a reaction. It just came to me."
Hartley's wife, Kari, was not as chill as her husband. "I was a little bit scared that he was going to drop him," she said. "Fortunately he held on tight to both the ball and Isaac." Since Hartley caught the ball before Dodger first baseman Adrian Gonzalez could, the umps ruled it fan interference, ending the inning on a Hammel out. Gonzalez didn't say anything to him, Hartley said, adding: "I think I turned around too quickly for me to interact with him. Hopefully he's not too angry. He is on my fantasy team." Catherine Garcia
