Fox News dumps Sarah Palin
Fox News recently confirmed that it had dropped its contract with Sarah Palin, who had been a staple on the news network ever since she lost her vice presidential run with John McCain in 2008. A Fox News spokesperson told Politico that the relationship ended on good terms. The former Alaska governor is expected to continue to make occasional guest appearances on Fox News and Fox Business.
Although the relationship ended on good terms, it wasn't always smooth sailing throughout the years. Palin signed on to deliver commentary for the network in January 2010 for a reported $1 million a year, as she was then considered a possible contender in the 2012 presidential race. In 2011, Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes was quoted by The Associated Press saying, "I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings." Things got rockier when Palin announced that she actually was not going to run in 2012. Palin complained on Facebook that the network had canceled her appearances, which the network denied.
But even without the help of Fox News, Palin will undoubtedly continue trying to remain relevant, both with her show on the Sportsman Channel and her massive conservative followings on Twitter and Facebook.
