Rod Stewart tells James Corden about the good old days of constant 'drinking and shagging'

"I don't know if I've ever felt as cool as I do at this moment in my life right now," said James Corden, halfway through his latest "Carpool Karaoke" segment on Tuesday's Late Late Show. He'd just finished singing Rod Stewart's new song with Stewart and A$AP Rocky, both passengers in his SUV. But the reason to watch the video is the tales Stewart told of his life as a rock star, alone and with his old band the Faces.
"We were outrageous with the Faces," Stewart told Corden, elaborating when prompted: "Just drinking and shagging and a-drinking and a-shagging, basically — that's what we did, and smashing up hotel rooms." At one point, Stewart said, the band was banned from all Holiday Inns (probably because they used to announce from the stage that there was going to be a party back at the hotel room) so they would check in as Fleetwood Mac. Why smash up hotel rooms? "We just couldn't get any respect," Stewart said.
If you watch the entire nine-minute video you'll also learn how and when Stewart lost his virginity (an occasion that inspired "Maggie Mae"), observe a playfully homoerotic moment "between to open-minded, broad-minded guys," and find out at what point Stewart clams up about his love life.
