Boston is out of the running to host the 2024 Olympics

The U.S. Olympic Committee will no longer try and bring the 2024 Games to Boston, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker announced Monday. The city, which beat out other U.S. locations in January for the right to bid, has long been reconsidering its bid to bring the Olympics home, especially given a lack of strong public support.
Earlier Monday, Mayor Martin J. Walsh said he was not ready to immediately sign a host city contract, arguing he would need to wait until August, when a state-hired consulting firm is set to finish evaluating the bid's financial implications.
If the committee is to nominate another U.S. city to take its place under consideration with the International Olympic Committee by Sept. 15, two-time host Los Angeles is reportedly the likely choice.
