Ben Carson is winning the GOP women's vote
Republicans historically don't poll so well with women, but Ben Carson may be an exception — at least in comparison to his fellow 2016 contenders. A recent survey revealed that the retired neurosurgeon has more support from women than any other GOP presidential candidate, with one in five women polled saying they thought Carson "best represents the values of Republicans like yourself," The Washington Post reports.
While Carson may not dominate the spotlight like Donald Trump, his quiet, blunt comments about racial inequality and systemic poverty seem to be resonating with voters, as evidenced by the fact that he's consistently ranked near the top of polls in key states and nationwide — a distinction The Washington Post says "few other 2016 candidates" can claim.
As one female Iowa Republican put it, "He says things I believe, but he says them in such a gentle way." Now there's a word that you don't associate with Trump.
