Andrew Garfield had an extremely classy response to losing his Spider-Man role

After just two middling movies, Sony decided to crush its Amazing Spider-Man franchise. And while Sony's brand-new partnership with Marvel means that fans will finally get to see Spider-Man and Iron Man hanging out together on the big screen, it also marks the end of Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield's performance as the webslinger.

You might think an actor like Garfield would be disappointed about losing his big blockbuster role — but in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Garfield sounded just fine with saying goodbye to Spider-Man. "I'm just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it," he said.

Garfield had nothing but warm words for Tom Holland, the young actor who will take his place as Spidey. "Tom Holland is a really, really great actor," he said. "He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor."

Tom Holland will debut as Spider-Man in next year's Captain America: Civil War. Andrew Garfield will next be seen opposite Liam Neeson and Adam Driver in Martin Scorsese's Silence, which is slated for release in 2016.
