Stephen Colbert's first week on Late Show will include some less than conventional guests
Stephen Colbert has officially left his blustery Colbert Report persona behind, but that doesn't mean his interest in U.S. politics is totally gone. In the September 8 premiere of Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS, the host will welcome a very special guest: Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush.
Jeb Bush is just one of several less than conventional late-night guests slated to show up for the first week of Colbert's Late Show. On September 9, the host will welcome Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk; on September 10, he'll interview Uber CEO Travis Kalanick.
The emphasis on major figures in business and politics is an intriguing way for Colbert to set himself apart from fellow late-night hosts like Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, who tend to focus on Hollywood celebrities and light-hearted antics. Of course, Colbert isn't totally immune to the lure of celebrity; his first week of guests also includes George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, and Amy Schumer.
