John Boehner's tenure as speaker of the House may soon be coming to an end, Politico reports. For what Politico says is "the first time," House insiders are saying that they "do not believe he will run for another term as House leader in 2017."

Since taking the gavel following the Republican takeover of the House in the 2010 elections, Boehner has been stuck between dissatisfied conservatives in the Republican Party and a Democratic president. And, as Politico reports, "one of the most challenging stretches" is yet to come. This fall, Boehner faces "a quixotic but determined fight to defund Planned Parenthood, a potential government shutdown, a deadline to raise the federal debt ceiling or risk default, and a contentious showdown over highway spending. Boehner's aides say they expect a vote to oust him, formally known as a motion to vacate the chair."
