Seth Meyers looks at the GOP presidential candidates' Syria War critiques, finds a quagmire
The situation in Syria is a red hot mess, and a lot of the things President Obama and Congress have tried to battle ISIS in the country haven't worked out so well, Seth Meyers said on Wednesday's Late Night. That would seem to leave fertile ground for the crop of 2016 Republican presidential candidates, but their criticisms of Obama's Syria policy are a ball of confusion, Meyers said. He started with the candidates' frequently stated critique that Team Obama is "leading from behind" and has to step up and take control, shifting to their hand-washing on the Syrian refugee crisis, which, they argue, Europe is handling just fine on its own, thanks.
Maybe the best part of Meyers' "closer look" at Syria is his analogy for Donald Trump's puzzling, repeated insistence that the refugees from Syria are all strong young men, with few women in sight. "Trump is working this issue like a bouncer at a club works the door," Meyers said, breaking out his Trump impression: "How many are you? Four dudes, no ladies? Forget it, this is America, we don't import sausage." Watch the entire segment below. Peter Weber
