Ben Carson is the only Republican close to beating Hillary Clinton, in new poll

If the 2016 presidential race were held today, Hillary Clinton would win — unless, perhaps, she was running against Republican frontrunner Dr. Ben Carson, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Whereas Carson and Clinton were tied at 47 percent apiece in the poll's hypothetical matchup, Clinton beat all the other Republicans: Sen. Marco Rubio, 47 percent to 44 percent; Jeb Bush, 47 percent to 43 percent; and Donald Trump, 50 percent to 42 percent.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Clinton's main rival for the Democratic nomination, fared pretty well, too, beating Trump 50 percent to 41 percent and Rubio 46 percent to 41 percent. At the same time, only 12 percent of Democrats said they think Sanders will get the nomination. The poll of 847 registered voters was conducted Oct. 25-29, and has a margin of error of ±3.4 percent.
