Vice Media is now worth more than The New York Times and Oprah Winfrey

Vice Media's edgy, counterculture, take-no-prisoners reporting has made the millennial-friendly brand one of the most valuable media corporations in the world. And now, Vice has sealed a 24-hour cable channel deal with A&E. Viceland, as the new channel will be called, will take over A&E's H2 channel in February, with Spike Jonze as creative director.

The folks at A&E are hardly the only ones rooting for Vice. Disney also recently invested $200 million in Vice, and 20th Century Fox has likewise put many millions into the company.

Oh, and apparently Vice is worth roughly 18 Washington Posts. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos purchased that august newspaper for $250 million in 2013.
