At Tuesday's Republican presidential debate, Sen. Rand Paul, who delivered a standout performance, was discussing American foreign policy in the Middle East, and how his views differ from President Ronald Reagan's, when Carly Fiorina jumped in with a point about Reagan negotiating with the Russians. Paul patiently asked if he could finish out his time, but Donald Trump was a bit more forceful: "Why does she keep interrupting everybody?"
This earned Trump his second "boo" of the night from the audience. "After that moment with Trump and Fiorina," said Maggie Haberman at The New York Times, "these candidates generally really don't like each other, and it is coming through tonight." But, she added, Fiorina had been interrupting the other candidates, and the fact that no one mentioned it before Trump "underscores how worried the men on stage are about interrupting the lone woman candidate."
