The Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear a case on a Texas law limiting abortion clinics, marking the first time the court has taken up a case on the issue since 2007. The Texas law, parts of which the high court previously blocked, would leave only about 10 of the state's more than 40 abortion clinics open.

In the case, Whole Women's Health v. Cole, the justices will decide whether Texas' tough restrictions on abortion providers place an "undue burden" on women seeking legal abortions.

A decision is expected by late June, just months ahead of the 2016 elections.
