Ben Carson's favorability numbers drop in latest New Hampshire poll
Ben Carson's surge to the top of the Republican presidential primary race might be coming to an end. A WBUR poll of New Hampshire out Wednesday shows the retired neurosurgeon fading on all fronts, with Donald Trump pulling further ahead in first place and Carson dropping in popularity.
Trump now leads the Republican field in New Hampshire by five points, with Carson in a second place tie with Sen. Marco Rubio at 13 percent. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is next at 8 percent, followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Ohio Gov. John Kasich tied with 7 percent.
While Rubio and Carson are tied in the poll, the Florida senator edges the former neurosurgeon in favorability, indicating that questions about Carson's biography may be taking their toll on the political outsider. Carson's favorability numbers dropped from 63 percent earlier this month to 55 percent in the new poll, Politico reports. In comparison, Rubio's favorability moved up slightly to 57 percent.
