Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) made the cut for Tuesday night's primetime Republican presidential debate, CNN announced Sunday on State of the Union.

Paul's recent polling numbers have left him right on the cusp of meeting CNN's debate criteria. There was some speculation, fueled by a Boston Globe report that has since been clarified, that Paul would drop out of the race Tuesday if he couldn't snag a prime-time slot.

Paul will join Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, John Kasich, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz on the main stage in Las Vegas. The debate will mark Christie's return to prime time after Fox Business bumped him in November.
