Now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is almost in theaters, screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan is spilling a big secret: The movie is "really goofy."
Kasdan — who also co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi — told the Los Angeles Times Monday that he's "really happy" with the final product, which is "full of surprises." When it came time to get started on the project, Kasdan and director and co-writer J.J. Abrams decided early on they wanted to make the movie "delightful," he said. They tried to keep things on the down-low, sometimes hiking in remote places to discuss the movie, but "we were reckless," Kasdan said. "We were in restaurants and cafes and we were yelling things like, 'Han should do this!' We were not careful."
