Jennifer Lawrence says she had a big crush on Seth Meyers, then deflates his ego a bit

Apparently the way to date attractive actresses is to work at Saturday Night Live. On Tuesday's Late Night, Jennifer Lawrence said that when she hosted SNL in 2013, she had a "really big crush" on Seth Meyers, who was head writer at the time. "So I had this whole plan," she told him. "All week, I was like, 'He's going to ask me out. He's totally going to ask me out.' And then later in the week, I was like, 'Oh, I'm going to ask him out.'" She had screwed up her courage to proposition him, she said, but thankfully shared her plan with a costume fitter, who told her Meyers was engaged.
Meyers and Lawrence were drinking red wine on Tuesday's show, for some reason, and they toasted the romance that never was. "Cheers to my humiliation, I guess," Lawrence said. "This feels great. That's the best thing I've ever cheers'd." Meyers probably should have left well enough alone with his joke about having Lawrence give a toast at his wedding to his wife, but he asked about Lawrence's other celebrity crushes. She had one: Larry David. "I'm feeling a little less awesome about the crush," Meyers said. Lawrence was sly: "Don't — you guys have something special." This isn't nearly as awkward as Jimmy Fallon's near miss with Nicole Kidman — maybe it's the red wine, maybe Meyers was prepared — but unrequited celebrity crushes always make for good TV.
