Ex-fiancée of Making a Murderer's Steven Avery: 'He's not innocent'

Making a Murderer's Steven Avery just lost one of his key supporters in the Netflix documentary series detailing his murder trial. Avery's former fiancée Jodi Stachowski denounced her claims of Avery's innocence in a Nancy Grace interview that aired Wednesday night, calling her previous statements "all lies." "[I want people to know] the truth," Stachowski said. "What a monster he is. He's not innocent."
Stachowski, who was in prison for a DUI during the time Avery allegedly murdered Teresa Halbach, says that she's actually believed all along that Avery was guilty, but she was afraid of what he would do if she told the truth. "Steven called me and told me that if I didn't say anything good and nice about him, I'd pay," she said. "He'd beat me." According to Stachowski, Avery was abusive throughout their two-year relationship and once threatened to kill both her and her family.
She has since told authorities about her change of heart, though she says she waited until she moved out of Manitowoc County to do so. "Steven's the one person I can't trust," she added. "He's a monster."
