12 missing after 2 Marine Corps helicopters collide off Oahu

Two Marine helicopters collided midair off the coast of the Hawaiian island of Oahu, the Coast Guard reported Friday. Both helicopters had six people aboard.
The collision occurred after midnight during a nighttime training mission, NBC News reports. The debris field is about two and a half miles offshore; an empty life raft was discovered, although there is not yet any sign of survivors.
The cause of the collision is unknown.
