'Surprising' survey finds older people more concerned about gender equality than younger people

A Fawcett Society survey found that older generations are significantly more concerned about gender equality than younger generations, a result that Fawcett Society head of policy and insight Jemima Olchawski called "surprising." The results found nearly 70 percent of people over 65 believed "more needs to be done for men and women to be equal," with only 55 percent of people aged 25-34 feeling similarly. The Fawcett Society surveyed more than 8,000 people for their results.

"The results showed a polarized attitude among young people. While they were more likely to identify as feminist, they were also more likely to oppose feminism," Olchawski told BuzzFeed News.
