James Corden's 'carpool karaoke' with Chris Martin turns into a buddy road trip movie

The premise of James Corden's latest "carpool karaoke" interview/songfest is that Coldplay's Chris Martin needs a lift from Los Angeles to San Francisco to play at the Super Bowl. That's a long trip, and they do their best to make it a strange one. Martin did most of the entertaining, trying to explain the rules to "American football" and trotting out his impersonations of Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger. For most of the long car ride, Martin and Corden harmonized to Coldplay songs — at one point, Martin called Corden out for singing the wrong words on "Viva la Vida" — but Martin also busted out a keyboard to sing the David Bowie anthem "Heroes."

So far, that's pretty standard "carpool karaoke" fare. Things started to take an odd, cinematic turn when Corden decided he was too tired to keep on driving. You can watch the entire road trip below. Peter Weber
