Donald Trump nearly doubles second-place Ted Cruz's support in latest South Carolina poll

With just three days to go until Saturday's South Carolina Republican presidential primary, Donald Trump's lead shows no signs of shrinking. The latest Monmouth University poll out Wednesday shows the media mogul now nearly doubles second-place Sen. Ted Cruz's support in the Palmetto State, with 35 percent to Cruz's 19 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio is close behind Cruz with 17 percent, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 9 percent, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 8 percent, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 7 percent.
With 42 percent of those surveyed saying they are "completely decided" on who they'll be voting for in the primary and another 31 percent saying that they have a "strong preference," Trump's lead appears to be relatively safe. Only 17 percent said that they remain undecided. Moreover, Trump leads among nearly every demographic group surveyed in South Carolina, including women, voters both older and younger than 50, evangelicals and non-evangelicals, and military and non-military households.
The poll, which surveyed 400 likely Republican voters between Feb. 14-16, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
