The University of Missouri fired Melissa Click, an associate professor of communications, after she shouted, "I need some muscle over here," in an attempt to bar a student journalist from photographing a campus demonstration, the college announced Thursday.

Click's actions, which were captured on video, incited international controversy regarding the limits of free speech and the right to protest. The Nov. 9 demonstration in question followed a series of racially charged protests on campus, culminating in the university president's resignation on the same day.
