Hillary Clinton sent a personalized Christmas card to Sandra Bland's mother

Hillary Clinton visited Wisconsin on Tuesday, appearing on stage in Milwaukee with mothers who had lost children to gun violence or in encounters with the police. Clinton expressly addressed African-American parents about the gun violence in their community, slamming Sen. Bernie Sanders for his record on gun control, The New York Times reports.
Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of Sandra Bland, the woman who died in police custody last year, helped bolster Clinton's own record by noting she had been receiving personal notes from Clinton ever since the two met in Chicago last year. One letter, which arrived during Christmas, read, "I know this is the first holiday without your baby. Thinking of you..."
"Not only did she follow up, she followed up and followed up. People go around and say, 'you're being pimped by the secretary.' Who in the heck is going to exploit us?" Reed-Veal said.

The African-American community has widely been loyal to Clinton throughout the primary season. Despite Wisconsin being a relatively white state, Milwaukee is 40 percent black, so the city's black population could help Clinton prevent a Sanders sweep in the state.
