There reportedly won't be any new bowl games until 2019

The NCAA won't allow any new bowl games until after the 2019 season, sources told ESPN and CBS Sports on Monday. In 2015, there was such a shortage of qualified teams to fill 41 postseason games that three of the football teams selected had losing records.
"There is an excess of bowl games due in part to a disparate allocation of openings vs. conference bowl histories," Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson said in December. "There is consensus change is needed, and this year's outcome must not be repeated."
The NCAA enacted a similar three-year moratorium in 2011, after which six new bowl games were created.
