Donald Trump has claimed he doesn't believe in climate change, but that apparently didn't stop him from citing it as a reason to build a sea wall to protect one of his golf courses. According to Politico, the presumptive Republican nominee applied for permission to erect a wall to prevent erosion at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland and explicitly cited the consequences of global warming as the main reason for building the infrastructure.
Trump has been vocally against climate change action, saying he's "not a big believer in global warming." He has also called the theory "a total hoax" and "bulls--t."
"Donald Trump is working to insure his at-risk properties and his company is trying to figure out how to deal with sea level rise. Meanwhile, he's saying things to audiences that he must know are not true," conservative climate change advocate Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) said. "You have a soft place in your heart for people who are honestly ignorant, but people who are deceitful, that's a different thing."
