Israeli police said Wednesday four people were killed and at least 16 wounded when two gunmen opened fire on a popular market in central Tel Aviv, The Associated Press reports. One of the assailants was shot and killed by a security guard, and the other is being treated for a gunshot wound; Israeli police identified the attackers as Palestinian cousins.

The shooting took place at the Max Brenner restaurant inside the Sarona Marketplace, and an employee said the men ordered drinks before they jumped up and started shooting people at point-blank range, Haaretz reports. "This attack was carried out by people who don't value life," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attack was carried out by "people who don't value life," and lauded the security guard and police officers who "prevented a greater tragedy."
