Dallas Police Chief David Brown announced early Friday that officers are in negotiations with a suspect in Thursday night's shooting of 11 police officers.

The suspect is in a parking garage in downtown Dallas, and has been exchanging gunfire with officers throughout their talks. "He told our negotiators that the end is near, he's going to hurt and kill more of us, meaning law enforcement, and there are bombs all over the place in this garage and downtown," Brown said. "We are being very careful in our tactics so we don't injure or put any of our officers in harm's way or the citizens of Dallas."

Another suspect is already in custody, and officers are questioning two people who sped away from the area after throwing suspicious bags into their car. Brown said the assumption now is that the four people "triangulated" the parade route and were "working together with rifles ... at elevated positions at different points of the downtown area." He also said police don't "have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspects, and will continue a very rigorous investigation and search of downtown."
