Police shoot unarmed black caretaker of autistic man

A black man was shot and wounded by police in Miami, Florida, on Monday as he cared for his autistic patient. Charles Kinsey, a therapist for people with disabilities, was attempting to get the patient back to the assisted living facility he'd wandered away from when police arrived on the scene following reports of a man with a gun.
Police ordered Kinsey and the patient, who was blocking traffic as he played with a toy truck in the street, to lie down. Cellphone video shows that Kinsey complied, and put his hands up in the air as tried to get his patient to do the same. "All he has is a toy truck in his hand," Kinsey can be heard telling police, who were armed with assault rifles and hiding behind telephone poles 30 feet away. "That's all it is. There is no need for guns."
An officer then fired three times, wounding Kinsey in the leg. No weapon was found on Kinsey.
