Prospective college students always ask about class sizes, financial aid packages, and extracurricular activities, but now they have another question to add to the list: Does this school have a Pizza ATM?
Cincinnati's Xavier University is home to the first — and only — Pizza ATM in the United States. The machine runs 24/7, and holds 70 12-inch pizzas at a time, prepped by members of the college's award-winning dining staff. Depending on the toppings, pizzas cost $9-$10 each, and are heated in the machine at 475 degrees and ready within three minutes of ordering. The Pizza ATM is made by Pauline, a French company, and already popular in Europe.
The Pizza ATM stands in the lobby outside of the main dining facility, which closes at 8 p.m. nightly. Xavier Assistant Vice President Jude Kiah told NBC News "many, many other schools are interested in bringing it to their campuses," and it's a "cost-effective way to solve this problem of having a late-night pizza option on campus." The machine is still in the testing phase, but will be available for all students when they arrive on campus later this month.
