A Tupac-themed pop-up cafe is opening in California
Before Tupac Shakur was murdered 20 years ago, he was sketching out plans for a cookbook and restaurant serving his own recipes. On Sept. 13, some of his ideas will come to life at the Powamekka Cafe in Fresno, California.
The pop-up cafe honoring the late rapper is opening at the Fulton Mall, the brainchild of the operators of a burger restaurant called Take 3 and a local marketing director, Rolling Stone reports. Some of Tupac's sketches for the Powamekka Cafe are now on display at the Grammy Museum, showing the logo (featuring an ankh) and signs for the bathrooms (one for "divaz" and the other for "playaz"). The cafe will serve some of his recipes, as well as Tupac-themed dishes like California Love Chicken Sandwich, Hennessey Apple Butter chicken wings, and Thug Passion cake pops — champagne cakes coated with Alizé buttercream frosting.
