Trump advocate Jeffrey Lord warns of 'computer hanky-panky' in the counting of electronic votes
Donald Trump and his supporters have increasingly warned of the perceived threat of voter fraud in the upcoming election — a threat most experts agree is a non-issue. CNN commentator and Trump advocate Jeffrey Lord nevertheless continued to push the conspiracy on a panel ahead of the final presidential debate, telling Brooke Baldwin that "just because I touch the button that says Donald Trump, it doesn't necessarily mean that it registers for Donald Trump. And you can have all sorts of computer hanky-panky."
Angela Rye jumped in to contradict Lord's claim. "I think it's problematic for the Republican Party for a lot of reasons and one of them is voter fraud occurs .000031 times, percentages. And I think that we have to deal with the fact that there actually are voter suppression measures that were introduced in Republican-led state legislatures all over the country," she said.
On Twitter, even CNN's senior reporter for media and politics, Dylan Byers, couldn't resist correcting Lord. "Lord is entitled to his opinion," Byers wrote, "but this is just an entirely baseless assertion about our voting process and he has no facts to back it up."
