election night 2016
Hillary Clinton will speak to the country on Wednesday morning
After losing the White House in a huge upset to Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton called Trump to concede the election early Wednesday, but she did not speak to the nation, instead sending campaign chairman John Podesta to tell the supporters at her election party to go home for the night. But she will speak Wednesday morning, according to NBC News and CNN. It isn't clear why she waited, but Politico's Charlie Mahtesian has a theory:
Clinton will very likely end up winning the popular vote, making her the second Democrat in 16 years to win the popular vote but lose the Electoral College.
