Apologetic Clinton urges Americans to give Trump 'a chance to lead'
Hillary Clinton opened her concession speech Wednesday morning, her first public remarks since she lost the presidency, with an apology. "I'm sorry we didn't win this election," Clinton said, admitting how "disappointed" she felt and how "painful" this will be "for a long time."
Despite her disappointment, Clinton remained optimistic that Donald Trump "will be a successful president for all Americans." "Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead," Clinton said, acknowledging the fact that the election proved "our country is more deeply divided than we thought."
However, Clinton issued a plea to supporters to remain engaged in politics, saying, "our constitutional democracy demands our participation." "Not just every four years, but all the time," Clinton said.

Clinton vowed that someday, "someone will" shatter the "highest and hardest glass ceiling" of electing a woman to the White House. "To all the little girls watching," Clinton said, "never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world."
