Morning Joe's Joe Scarborough tears into Rudy Giuliani: 'He is way out of control'
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's latest remarks left Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough wondering whether he could actually handle the role of secretary of state, should President-elect Donald Trump tap him for the nation's highest diplomatic post as has been rumored. "What is he doing?" Scarborough said during Tuesday's episode of Morning Joe, after playing a clip of Giuliani's appearance Monday at The Wall Street Journal's CEO Council in Washington, D.C. "He's way out of control," he added.
In the sit-down, Giuliani publicly breathed a sigh of relief that he would not be attorney general and thus wouldn't have to deal with decisions about, say, big mergers. "I can escape that one," Giuliani said, making it clear he passed on the the job. He then proceeded to angle for a spot as Trump's secretary of state. "You know, he's a little over his skis," Scarborough said. "I think he thinks he won the election and not Donald Trump."
Furthermore, Scarborough said, Giuliani's "blabbering" about who Trump will probably select as attorney general and "about what's going on inside these very serious deliberations" brings his fitness for the role of secretary of state into question. "That's not a guy you want to go on a delicate mission to South Korea talking about North Korea," Scarborough said, noting that a president wants a secretary of state that "knows his place."
