A heartbreaking photograph of Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) and his two sons riding the Capitol subway was captured Wednesday, shortly after the shooting at a Republican congressional baseball practice. Barton is the captain of the Republican team, which was gathered Wednesday morning at a field in Alexandria, Virginia, to practice ahead of the annual congressional baseball game Thursday.
Barton's 10-year-old son Jack was at the baseball practice. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said he and other members shielded the boy.
At least five people were injured, including Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), two Capitol Hill police officers, and a congressional aide.
