Trump appointee Rod Rosenstein approved FBI raid on Michael Cohen

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein may be President Trump's appointee, but he still approved the FBI raid on the home and office of Trump's personal lawyer.

Government officials told The New York Times that Rosenstein personally approved Monday's raid on Michael Cohen's New York office and hotel room. It sent Trump into a tizzy, officials say, and he considered firing Rosenstein that day.

Despite being Trump's pick for deputy attorney general, Rosenstein hasn't spent much time on the president's good side. He did recommend firing then-FBI Director James Comey, but he also appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller and determines the extent of the Mueller's authority in the Russia investigation.

Then again, Trump has considered firing Rosenstein once or twice before this. So what's a little raid?
