Rep. Martha McSally defeated Kelli Ward and Joe Arpaio in Tuesday's Arizona Republican Senate primary, several media outlets are projecting. She will face Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, who easily beat Deedra Abboud in the Democratic Senate primary.
McSally, a veteran, has 51.3 percent of the vote, with just 5.6 percent of precincts reporting. Ward, a doctor, made headlines for criticizing the late Sen. John McCain, and Arpaio, the former Maricopa County Sheriff, is known for being pardoned by President Trump after being convicted of criminal contempt of court.
In Arizona's gubernatorial contests, incumbent Gov. Doug Ducey defeated Ken Bennett in the GOP primary, and David Garcia was victorious over Steve Farley and Kelly Fryer in the Democratic primary.
