Did President Trump just start a witch hunt of his own?
While speaking in a press conference Monday about Brett Kavanaugh, the president suggested it's hypocritical of Democratic senators to question the Supreme Court nominee about his past behavior because they're "not angels" themselves. In particular, he cryptically claimed there's one Democratic senator who is "pretty aggressive" and who he's seen in "very bad" and "somewhat compromising" situations. Later, a reporter asked for details, but Trump would not provide them, instead saying, "I think I'll save it for a book like everybody else."
This came as Trump said he feels badly for Kavanaugh, who is facing allegations of sexual misconduct and is the subject of an FBI probe. The president said in his press conference that Kavanaugh may have had "some difficulty" with drinking in the past but that he has led an "exemplary life," apparently unlike the lawmaker he has in mind. But considering Trump also once claimed to have evidence from an "extremely credible source" that Barack Obama's birth certificate is fake, whether this Democratic senator actually exists is anyone's guess.
